Re: Studio room emulation plugins
I use both headphones with NX and the ARC 2 system and like them both. I think listening through as many different systems as you can is helpful so I constantly go back and forth between the two systems, then I'll listen to my monitors with the ARC switched off and headphones with NX switched off. With ARC 2 it also has various speaker emulations such as Yamaha NS10s, car speakers, desktop speakers, etc... I use all of these options so that hopefully my mixes will translate on any system. HTH!

Thanks Elser!
I'll be testing a few of the suggestions I've been receiving over the next few weeks and will get back to this topic.

As someone who doesn't have amazing studio monitors, I've had great success by making sure I reference my tracks across multiple sound sources that include: headphones, car stereo, home theater system, ear buds, in-ear monitors, iPhone speakers, and iPad speakers.
From these tests, I get a consensus for what changes I need to make to a mix.

+1 on Dave's comments, and his mixes turn out Great. I do the exact same thing. I get close switching between NS10's, Aurotones, cheap iPhone earbuds, and DT 770's. I usually switch my listening source every 10-15 minutes during mix down. Once I feel like I am close, I put the mix through my final test, which is the car stereo. When it sounds good on EVERy source, I know I am done. If I did have an emulation plugin, I would just add it as another listening source to switch between while mixing.davekropf wrote:As someone who doesn't have amazing studio monitors, I've had great success by making sure I reference my tracks across multiple sound sources that include: headphones, car stereo, home theater system, ear buds, in-ear monitors, iPhone speakers, and iPad speakers.

I do the same--but I think I'll get Sonarworks.davekropf wrote:As someone who doesn't have amazing studio monitors, I've had great success by making sure I reference my tracks across multiple sound sources that include: headphones, car stereo, home theater system, ear buds, in-ear monitors, iPhone speakers, and iPad speakers.
Wonder how much my car speaker system has been affecting my mix
