24bit, 48kHz, here, unless it's some sort of archival work. There are some solid reasons to upsample to 96kHz or better when mastering; some of the really complex mastering plugins are more accurate and better sounding at higher resolutions, reportedly. Any differences are gonna be pretty subtle, and it's unlikely they could even be discerned except by a trained ear in a treated room.

If have different folders for different libraries. If one of them wants 16/44 the project goes to their folder and if the other wants 24/48, it goes in that folder.

My actual default to start writing a random track is 16/44. It uses less disk space and less resources on your CPU.

Go figure. Sometimes the libraries that want 24 bit files, have clients that request the track in a 320 kb MP3.

96Khz is really great for capturing the high frequency spectrum, like 48khz, frequencies a dog can hear so they can sing along. Longer waveforms, or lower frequencies, it wouldn't have much or any affect, the resolution is the bits, or amplitude steps. And then there's probably the question of what material the speakers are made of, can they move in and out that fast or whatever the physics are to recreate the signal accurately?? And what if the mixer or masterer low passed and rolled off the frequencies above a certain amount before you listened?? :?

Len's not kidding; there's a quantifiable difference between 44.1kHz, 24-bit and 48kHz, 24-bit, but there's a pretty good chance that only dogs can hear it. Ok maybe cats, too. (my cat told me this, but I suspect she's prejudiced against dogs)
