controller to laptop connection.

Post by byllsong » Wed Nov 15, 2017 7:06 am

Hi, guys.
My exploration continues.
If a keyboard controller has no audio line out,
how would it connect to audio interface?
Thanks
Billy

Keyboard controllers don't have audio outs, only midi, because they don't have any sounds. It takes a synthesizer or a workstation or something with sounds. I presume you are shopping for keyboard controllers? ;)

Yes, Len.
I'm learning daily and I must say I'm enjoying the process.
Just trying to find as much as I can.
I usually get my stuff from Sam Ash in Miami Lakes.
The courier will only pick what I order, so I have to get it right.
Thanks for all your responses.
Billy

It's not a keyboard. It's a controller. You plug it into a USB port. Open your DAW, on a track choose the controller as the input device. Then place an instrument (VST) on that track - like piano. Play the controller, you'll hear the piano.

Controller is midi so it would either have a usb or a regular midi connector. Some interfaces have a midi connector, most probably don't as midi has pretty much gone usb.
