What's Your Work Flow?

Post by RussTidwell » Mon Jan 01, 2018 5:15 pm

Hey all,

I've been a Taxi member for a little while now, but my "real job" has been keeping me way too busy. So my goal for 2018 is to seriously ramp up my music production and submissions. But getting from a blank project page to a finished song is still really time-consuming for me - coming up with an idea, arranging, mixing... every step seems to take too much time.

To that end, I want to ask all you more experienced veterans: How do you produce a quality track, quickly? Do you have tips and tricks that you could share with those of us that are relatively new to this? Are there DAW functions that you rely on? Go-to instruments or sample libraries? Anything you could share would be appreciated!

Russ

Hey Russ, perhaps this Taxi TV video with Taxi members (and legends) Chuck Henry and Stephen Baird will help you out:

https://youtu.be/oWPe1jFbMp4

They walk you through the creation of an entire track within the span of about 60 minutes or so, and explain how they do it. Also, check out this video of a similar nature with Taxi member Steve Barden, who is using real instruments rather than the electronic programming of the guys above:

Both of those videos out to help you out some.
