Re: Blues/Rock Instrumental Cues
Nice tracks and great guitar work there Glenn.
Great advice from the other guys about getting these to fit the listing.
I'd make copies of the mixes [I bet you do already} to fit other possible listings.
Why don't you try a couple of things on that loop in Down in the dirt.
You could compress the crap out of it, like compress a mountain of crap out of it to see if you can get the snare to pull its head in.
You could also copy and paste some level automation on the snare. I don't know Logic but in Pro tools it wouldn't take too long using Tab to transient and "special" paste.
Just a thought.

Re: Blues/Rock Instrumental Cues
You're a good problem solver Les, thanks!
Might run out of time, it's due tomorrow evening our time and my weekend is pretty packed.. Hopefully it won't get returned purely based on the volume of a snare - but anything is possible!
Thanks for the tips!

For what it's worth, here are the final versions. Lester I did throw the compressor at the drums in "Down In The Dirt", I think it helped - thanks!

Re: Blues/Rock Instrumental Cues
My strike rate remains dismal. All 3 returned.
Return 1 (Down In The Dirt) : The main riff is cool. The song could be a little faster and more driving to fit this listing better in my view. The guitars could also be more distorted-sounding and more forward-pushing.
Return 2 (In The Groove) : A solid instrumental cue song but lacked the sound & style that was heard in the referenced Artists songs & would not fit on similar playlists. Instrumental performance was bit too clean & missed a rougher Rock styled edge which the listing was hoping Sorry that I cannot forward.
Return 3 (Defiance) : I feel the writing is on target (and solid), but elements like the lead tone could be more edgy and current indie blues sounding. Check into songs like “Howlin’ for You” by The Black Keys for reference.
I might have to try Dramedy or something!
