Feedback On New Song Requested

Post by chauncey » Fri Feb 23, 2018 8:51 pm

Hi,

I recently wrote a sort of electro/synth pop song which I'd like to get some feedback on ahead of pitching it to a listing. Any thoughts you'd like to share on the tune would be very much appreciated.

Hey Chauncey, do you have any reference songs we could use to compare the production/mix to? Also, is this song meant for tv or artists?

Thanks,

Ken

Out of genre for me, but for what it's worth it sounds like a pretty nicely crafted song to me... one thing that did jump out, the vocal kind of sounds to me like it's just been dropped on top of the backing track and doesn't really blend in or sound like it's part of the underlying music, if that makes sense. Especially in the verses. Might just need a little touch of some sort of very short reverb across the whole mix to glue it together, or something like that.

Bruce.

It's a cool back tracking.

I don't think the vocal or it's treatment fit the song though. For one, the vocal is way too loud. And to me it's treated too simply, excluding some electronic manipulation through out. I actually think this song would work really well with a female singer who has a good range to stretch out some these note. Right now you are staying within a very set range of notes IMO.

The distorted stuff that comes in at the ending doesn't do it for me.

That synth hook though? Really good.

Hey Ken,

Thanks for your reply.

One reference song you could use to compare the production/mix to is Lady Gaga's "The Cure."

The song was written in such a way that it could (hopefully) be used for tv or artists.

I think this is a good song. I agree with what people said above about the vocal- it's holding the song back. For EDM /Pop they usually have a heavily compressed (often auto-tuned) vocal. I think that's what you probably need to do to get a vocal to match the tune. And the whole tune needs compression, I think so it kind of blends together rather then sounding like a bunch of tracks. Really good modern pop chorus with the synth sounds instead of vocals. But when that comes around I would make it HUGE- that's how it's supposed to be in that type of tune, I think.

i agree with the vocal issue, it really turned me off. i would strongly advice you to hire a suitable demosinger if you aim to pitch it.
