I've been working on a mix, and both my Shure and Sennheiser headphones took a dump... I ALWAYS mix through monitors, but late at night when wifey is in bed, I can't do that.
So I sent a line-in to my Harmon/Kardon Bluetooh speaker input... Ya know, that is one of the best sounding mono/stereo speakers I've ever heard! It's about the size of a large plate, and I bought it at "Worst Buy" for about $200. It's incredible for listening to music. Plenty of low end, mids and highs!
But as a MIX speaker, it's like a home stereo speaker --- Doesn't translate very well... I spent HOURS mixing at low volume on that sucker, and thought I had a fantastic mix.
Next day, I burned a CD and listened to that mix... SUCKED!... So I was back to square one... Today, I turned on my Yamaha NS-10M's pushed by a high-powered QVC power amp, and cross-referenced the mix through my Definitive Technology larger speakers. Bingo! It was like coming home.
All for now,
Ern
