Hello everyone,
We are looking for some help in defining what types of opportunities our band should submit to. We play in a broad range of genres, but we don’t necessarily write specifically to the genres that seem to be offered in the opportunities we’ve seen. We’ll include two of our latest songs to give an idea of our sound. Any feedback as to how we can make best use of Taxi with our music would be hugely appreciated.

Thats's some really nice work you have there. "The Silence" falls into the folk/country category to me, while "Numbers and Lines" has a unique Indie feel to it, especially with the violin.
It might help to set your expectations though. Where Taxi excels, in my opinion, is matching music specifically crafted for listings that are for specific projects. The wording of each listing is very specific, part of the art of success at Taxi is thoroughly reading the listings and then only submitting if you have a solid match. A huge mistake to make is to force a song you already have into a listing thinking "it's similar, or close enough" when in fact it's not close enough. Listen to all of the reference files, and if you have something in your catalog that is a good fit submit it.
But also remember that in the tv/film world your lyrics cannot be too specific. You can't mention a specific city name, or person name in most cases, because the song won't work if the scene they are looking for music for a specific city or name (and that would be mentioned in the listing).
Successful Taxi members read ALL of the listings to find homes for their music. And don't forget instrumental listings! Do you have a groove that matches a listing for indie rock, or electronica, or country, etc? Remove the vocals, make sure the production is clean, and then submit it if it's a good match.
Good luck!
