Hey guys and gals,
Is anyone still using stand alone DAW’s ? I’m a dinosaur with limited tech ability and my top recording gear is a Yamaha AW4416.
Yea I know it’s ancient but I’m still learning . I’m pretty confident that I’ve got the basics but compared to what’s out there I realize that I’m behind the times a little bit. Any input would be appreciated. I’m new to the forum but not new to taxi.

Richard Dance (Crawdaddy) has used a standalone Boss recoding rig for a long time and has plenty of tunes signed and lots of placements.

He doesn't do everything in this as he collaborates a lot and has live drums on a lot of his tunes and they are mixed on other DAWs but its possible.

Crawdaddy is around the forums from time to time.

There are a few hardware jockeys around; I maintained a hardware control surface for years, cuz I like having knobs faders and buttons. I do miss the motorized faders, they impressed the hell outta studio clients. I would suggest demoing the Harrison mixbus. It will be an easier transition. it's only $79, it doesn't need a newer computer, and I think you'll find it more attractive than the yamaha, and easier,

EDIT Be advised, this thing is designed for capture in a live environment and as a front end for a computer-based DAW; onboard editing and overdubbing is pretty basic, there are no lanes or virtual tracks, but since it's also a control surface you get to mix in your DAW with real faders and there ain't a mixer in its price range with a compressor on every channel.

I ‘m sorry I disappeared from the forum. I have finally updated my pc and invested in Cubase and am quickly learning how far behind I am in some respects.
Homework and woodsheding is going to keep me busy for a while.
