Help ID Reverb Settings

Post by Razor7Music » Sat Aug 25, 2018 1:35 pm

Hello Group

I'm trying to figure out the reverb settings on the lead vocals on a track called, Somebody Else by the 1975 (band's name). https://youtu.be/Bimd2nZirT4

I'm sure someone here can come pretty close to figuring it out-sort of a retro, wet sound.

As always, thanks!
Thanks,

Hard to tell with so much going on. Also the FX on other tracks can make the vocal sound different in a mix.

I would say that the probably isn't much reverb on it. Or that it isn't a huge part of the recipe....but there are lots of delays in the track filling the spaces. I can also hear quite a bit of saturation on the vocals and a sort of scooped EQ with plenty of low end and high end but some middle taken out.

Personally I'd set up a couple of delays , starting with 8th & Quarter note and try sending a few things from your track as well as the vocals...reverb seems quite up front so maybe some ambience patch with a pre delay.

I bet if you put Xfer OTT ( free plugin ) on it and played around with the depth control that would take you a couple of steps in the right direction. This can actually bring up the ambiance in the recording and make it so you might not even need to add more. All depends on many other factors really... the exact same settings that they used may sound quite different on your track.

Thanks, Mark. I thought for sure I heard reverb on the vocals in the verses, but maybe it's delay like you said.

I'll give your idea a try and see (hear) what I can come up with.

Thanks, Len. That looks pretty cool.

Sorry to everyone that clicked on the link to the YT video I included. I didn't realize there was so much non-music at the beginning, or I would have posted another version.
