1 Year into Taxi and finally checking in!

Post by TomWanless » Thu Jan 10, 2019 12:54 am

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all had a great year.

My name is Tom and I've been submitting to Taxi for the past year. I'm from the U.K but recently moved to France.

Last year I was finishing my Music degree whilst working nights at a casino, so I only submitted when I had free time. I submitted roughly 40 submissions with a 40% forward rate.

I haven't had any offers but I'm really enjoying the process of writing to briefs. Through Taxi, I have written more songs in the past year than the previous three years of university combined!

I've written maybe 90% instrumental listings alongside 10% of songs and covers. I would love to sing and write top line more but listening critically for producing my own vocals is a weakness of mine.

Over the past month, I have been watching a lot Taxi TV episodes and seeing the replay chat, I'd love to get involved in the community.

I hope I did this right,
Tom Wanless

Welcome Tom!

It sounds like you're doing great! I watched a couple of your YouTube videos, very very nice!

Although I haven't heard your instrumentals, IMO you have a great voice. I suggest you try more vocal submissions, and don't worry about critiquing yourself, the Taxi screeners will give you the best feedback.

You might think about including links to YouTube, your Taxi Page, Soundcloud, etc ... in your Taxi Forum signature.

I hope you'll use the Forum regularly, most people find that it accelerates their progress.

Best of luck going forward!

Jim

Welcome Tom,
Thanks for posting on the forums. It is great to have members participating. I really like your voice man! I wonder . . . would you be interested in trying to collaborate on a Christmas listing sometime?

Best wishes man and congrats on both the output and forward %. :) I hope 2019 treats you well.

Johnny

Nice to meet you Johnny and thank you for the kind post!

I think that would be great, I've had a soft spot for most of the references on the Christmas listings recently! haha
Just send me a message and I'll make sure to get back to you. :)
(If there's any other listings in other categories that might work too, don't hesitate to ask.)

Wish you all the best too!
