New Country - song in development - a collab

Post by funsongs » Fri Feb 08, 2019 8:15 am

Born in the TAXI TV chat room during the January 20th episode -
fellow TAXI member, Charles A. Wilson (aka TuKatz), graciously accepted my offer to pen some lyrics to his completed Instrumental Cue.
Here's the rough of
Drivin' To Nashville
https://soundcloud.com/funsongs-1/drivi ... -2/s-PYrN0

ears & comments welcome.
Thanks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse 1)
All we own, packed into the back of my truck
You and me leavin', with a kiss for good luck
Drivin' to Nashville, like we're goin' to Disneyland
Like the joy of walkin' holdin' onto your hand
Chorus 1)
Chasin' our dream, drivin' to Nashville
If you say "YES!!" - Darlin', you know that I will
We'll be high-fivin' with smilin' faces
Like hittin' a home-run, then roundin' all the bases!! Yeah!!...
Verse 2)
Our new adventure, unknown and uncertain
The surprise of seein' what's behind the curtain
To hear the crowd in the stadium
Singin' with you and me, they're cheerin' our song!
repeat Chorus 1)
Chasin' our dream, drivin' to Nashville
If you say "YES!!" - Darlin', you know that I will
We'll be high-fivin' with smilin' faces
Like hittin' a home-run, then roundin' all the bases!!
Lead guitar solo/break (added: by Steve Peavey)
Bridge)
What awaits us? We'll just have to find out
But right now - I JUST WANNA SHOUT!
Chorus 2)
Chasin' a dream, we're drivin' to Nashville
If you say, "YES!!" Darlin', you know that I will
They'll be high-fivin' and singin' along
Cheerin' for our love - and lovin' our song!
Tag/Ending)
We're in love, and we're drivin' to Nashville

I really like this one Peter.. a departure from what I usually hear from you.

Sounds like a Nashville ringer playing that lead guitar solo.

Great job!

Nice job Peter and Charles! I like the lyrics and the music is solid. Nice guitar solo also. It's got that laid back feel of being happy with where you are going. And who wouldn't want to go to Nashville. I like the Disney comparison :) Nice job!

You nailed it, Dan - yeah, my 'buddy' Steve - lives here now. :)
Still on the hunt for just the right voices - a male/female duet kind of thing.

Hey Peter and Charles,

I really enjoyed this, thought the hook was excellent and has been in my head for the rest of the morning :)

Also seconding that the guitar solo is really nicely played!

Was it for a specific listing or just for future submissions?

Either way, great tune!

Tom - thanks for the ears & compliments.
This song was originally the music-only composition by Charles "TuKatz" - submitted as an Instrumental Cue (I believe it got returned, per the Jan 20th TAXI TV episode review);
but immediately upon hearing it on the show, its structure and high-quality inspired and impelled me to ask if I could help make it into a proper song. It was a bit of a road of discovery,
and - to be honest - I feel as giddy & surprised about what was discovered; probably more than most others. It just seemed to flow together quickly, and sort of write itself.
I was happy to be allowed to participate in its being revealed.

Hope that makes sense;
Cheers.

Peter and Charles
This is pretty good. Even for someone who doesn't dig country music, I was bobbing my head and following the story line.
Good luck with it!

Well, thank you, Susan.
It's not like you're being asked to let go of The Force, and come over to The Dark Side or anything.
I mean, what's not to like about a truck? And, certainly, a tiny bit of twang can't do you no harm... can it? :? 8-)
Cheers! er, uh - Giddy-Yup!

I like this, Peter! Played it through a couple of times this morning and now it's stuck in my head. :)
