Drinking Songs

Post by DannyWeber » Mon Apr 15, 2019 5:42 pm

Hey folks,

How’s this for the listing? How’s the melody? How's the chorus? How's the vocal? Is the lyric theme right?

Thanks in advance people!

Dan

I almost spilled my drink just as she strolled up to the bar
If that dress get's any tighter she'll be looking like a porn star
You know I had to have her in the backseat of car
Just then she asked me for drink then she gave a little wink

Drink up
Ya know I had to say
Drink up

We drank one for the road by now were both a little tipsy
Found the keys to drive her home because ya know we'll both get busy
Pulled 2 beers out of the cooler cause ya know one more will do her
Then she licked me on the neck and then she gave a little kiss

Gettin' busy with me until a quarter to three
Ya know we both got liquored up
Just how we wanted to be
Makin' love through the night
Ya know the feelin's so right
We lit some cigarettes and then she's sayin' to me

Drink up
Ya' know, ya' know she said
Drink up

Next night we're back in it pickin' up where we left off
Drinkin' gin in the jacuzzi gettin' busy with our clothes off
We both are gettin' dizzy from the wine and whiskey
But we make it to the bed it starts over again

Gettin' busy with me until a quarter to three
Ya know we both got liquored up
Just how we wanted to be
Makin' love through the night
Ya know the feelin's so right
We lit some cigarettes and then she's sayin' to me

Drink up
Ya' know, ya' know she said
Drink up

Busy with me until a quarter to three
Ya know we both got liquored up
Just how we wanted to be
Makin' love through the night
Ya know the feelin's so right
We lit some cigarettes and then she's sayin' to me

Gettin' busy with me until a quarter to three
Ya know we both got liquored up
Just how we like it to be
Makin' love through the night
Ya know the feelin's so right
We lit some cigarettes and then she's sayin' to me

ORIGINAL SONGS ABOUT DRINKING IN ALL GENRES and from ANY Era, with Male or Female Vocals, are needed by an A-List Music Publisher for Film and TV Sync Licensing.

They’re on a quest to find Songs in All-Tempos (Vintage or Contemporary Recordings can both work). Here are some references the Publisher provided to us that show some (but not all) possible styles:

"Bubbles In My Beer" by Bob Wills

"One Mint Julep" by Louis Prima & Keely Smith

"Night Train" by Guns and Roses

"Have A Drink On Me" by AC/DC

"Gin & Juice" by Snoop Dogg

NOTE: This awesome company is open to hearing Songs in most of the popular/commercially viable genres, including Pop, Rock, Adult Contemporary, Blues, Singer/Songwriter, R&B/Soul, Folk, Rap/Hip-Hop, Country, etc.

Please send well-crafted Songs with great melodies, strong lyrics, and a compelling chorus that’s based around “Drinking.” Your Songs can range anywhere from very simple stripped-down versions to fuller productions with more instrumentation. Whichever style of music you’re pitching, the music should have genre-appropriate instrumentation, engineering, and production. A great vocal performance that’s solid from start to finish should also help you stand out for this pitch.

Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. **Era **and/orgenre appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed

Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT) on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019.

Stylistically, it seems they're open to any genre, so you're good to go in that sense.

As to the chorus, I would deliver it as a big group vocal and I would repeat it twice every time, as it's too short right now and that's the portion that would probably get focused on in any placement.

I kind of like it for the wrong reasons.
If it was the soundtrack of a mechanical process like some kind of "How it's made" video it would fit really good.
Now it's a ... drinking song?
Unless you're hellbent on just getting to the emergency room by drinking as hard as you can this song could use some party feeling?
The word density almost places the song in rap territory and there is not much room for an atmosphere to have a drink in?
And ... is there some kind of wobbly effect on the vocals?

I still like it and still for the wrong reasons!
I like the relentlessness and high precision and it's a fun song.
But I'm not a screener ...

Heeey! I'm not sure what you did but now it swings and breaths better ... and it's also ... clearer? 8-)
The song makes more sense now and if I heard it on the radio I'd rather tap my foot than turn the radio off.

Thanks.. I'm a little new to songs with my own lyrics and vocals. I over-processed my vocals.. ouch. I will learn more as I go but thanks for your help and encouragement! And I'm glad you like it now!
Much appreciated!!!
