Uploaded music volume
Hi guys,
I just uploaded 3 three pieces to Taxi hosting.
How loud do the uploads need to be?
I don't want to overload things.
Thanks,
Billy

Hi Billy,
As loud as the references.
I just use Waves L2 with an out ceiling of about -.3 and crank the threshold until its as loud as the refs.
Actually I don't compare to anything anymore.... I just kind of know.
But the above advice will get you started.
my -.3 cents,
Tim

Loud
That's what they seem to prefer over track with a wide dynamic range, I've had several tracks signed where they asked me to make them louder which I felt compromised the audio fidelity but they got used so what do I know ! I just accept it now.
Ozone8 has helped me get stuff to a competitive loudness with less side effects

I just make everything as loud as possible, since I think they can always easily make it quieter. Is that a reasonable approach, I mean to not care about the loudness of the references and go as loud as possible? Tom

Yes... I agree with cosmicdolphin,
I have 2 libraries that definitely boost the volume of tracks I have done... that are already very loud!
Also.. Yes..they can make it quieter for the TV show.... but they cannot take away the distortion or grating sound that a too loud track has.
My 2 cents,
Tim

Re: Uploaded music volume
Yes.
I guess there is two different kinds of "loud":
1. I make sure the peak amplitude of whatever I have is, say, -0.01dB. That in itself only scales the waveform, but leaves it otherwise unchanged.
So, if I can submit a track with -0.01dB peak instead of -10dB, I will do so. Even if it is supposed to be a quiet Christmas song.
2. I do limiting, compression etc., and truly change the waveform doing that.
My approach is: I will always do 1, but 2 I only do as long as it sounds "good".
