How's it going?
I've always wanted to write a big band tune.
One thing I'm unsure about--most of Mancini's songs have that string section. Adding one would really sell that sound.
But the listing says
Thoughts? Would be an easy way to emulate the listing but it sounds like strings would be a bad idea. They are not looking for clones of Mancini's work!! Similar instrumentation and vibe? Yes, but not soundalikes
ORIGINAL, "MANCINI-STYLE" JAZZ INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a very successful, EXCLUSIVE A-List Music Library for a variety of TV, Film, Trailer, Promo, and Commercial placements.
They’re looking for a bunch of Instrumentals in a variety of Tempos and Moods that are in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references the company gave us:
“Holly” by Henry Mancini
“French Provincial” by Henry Mancini & His Orchestra
“The Chaser” by Henry Mancini
"Main Theme (From Pink Panther)" by Henry Mancini
Please submit well-crafted Instrumentals (not Cues) that are smooth and cool with an old-school, retro-Jazz style and sound. Your production should sound like real humans playing real instruments, even if you're using Virtual Instruments. Anything that sounds stiff, over-quantized, or obviously MIDI-driven won't work for this pitch.
All submissions should be about two-to-four-minutes long, give or take.
NOTE: They’re open to hearing recently recorded, retro-sounding Instrumentals as well as authentic vintage masters that were recorded back in the day. They are not looking for clones of Mancini's work!! Similar instrumentation and vibe? Yes, but not soundalikes...
