Hi Ang,I've actually been mulling this over since you posted this. A lot of great replies. My basic reply after having thought about it for a while is that I don't think there's any age limit on being "relevant" in or to the music industry. I think you'd definitely limit your chances if you only approached things with the concept that only a performance career was "relevant". Diane Warren and Kara DioGuardi are certainly two of the most relevant individuals in the music industry... both well past 26 and neither one focused on performance. I don't think you'd be too bummed out being either one of them. So whether it's performing, writing, composing, teaching or (the most likely scenario) a combination of all of those... being "relevant" is really a matter of hard work and patience. Fortunately, age is just a thing that brings the experience to make that hard work and patience easier to deal with. Look forward to every year... Dave

Actually, the REAL reason my band didn't get signed awhile ago (although we were on the cusp of being "too old") was the A&R weasels thought our multi-instrumentalist was too fat. Seriously! This guy played everything: Keys, Guitars, Harmonica, Sax, Flute, Violin, Percussion, and sang like a bird. He was everything you'd want in a band member, except he coulda tossed in a few salads. Sad, but true.Ern
