Born out of a couple of days of spending WAY too long on a simple mix...
I frequently find myself adjusting things by micro amounts where the difference probably isn't even obviously audible to anyone listening  I don't tend to be this crazy with TV/film stuff that sits under dialogue, but when I'm working on artist projects the obsession is real.
What are your favourite practices for keeping your ears fresh?
For what it's worth - I found that I limit myself to max 3-hour blocks when mixing. Maybe with deadlines, you don't have that option.
Ear-fatigue, in the end, doesn't help you get the best results - IMHO.

Hi, my name is Steve, I'm a micro-adjuster.....

Though deadlines can make me go nuts, they can keep me from going nuts too!
The last few I got forwarded were..."Okay, time's up. Gotta let it go." (I don't work thru the night if I can help it, and then I'll probably be traveling next day.)
Yes walking away and coming back is the best - I'll re-visit other projects.

Edited: Since this was under TECHNOLOGY > For now I use land.com for auto-mastering and getting my levels up. I DO pay $6 a month for unlimited mp3 masters. There's a free mode.
