Classic Rock Lullaby Forward

Post by aldicicco » Thu Mar 05, 2009 9:09 pm

A long while back, I eagerly asked my two best friends to come to my parent's house after school so I could play on my accordion the latest tracks I had just learned from the White Album. They agreed to come. I strapped on the squeeze box and let loose on a rousing rendition of "Looking through a Glass Onion". As I began, my buddies looked at each other blank-faced for about 5 seconds and then burst out laughing hysterically, eventually falling off their chairs and rolling on our dining room floor as I played on (good professional training). After watching their delirium for fifteen minutes they finally regained their composure to tell me how cool it was. Yeah, right.....I vowed that day to never to play rock n roll on an accordion again (especially for these two jokers). It took this Taxi listing to change my mind. Thanks Taxi - it was fun! Here for your listening pleasure (and giggles) is "Celluloid Heroes" by the Kinks, as a lullaby, featuring glockenspiel and accordion.Best wishes,Alwww.taxi.com/aldicicco"Kinks - Celluloid Heroes"PRODUCERS and ARTISTS who are capable of creating innovative INSTRUMENTAL LULLABIES are sought by an established Independent Record Label. This label is specifically interested in hearing lullaby renditions of Classic to Modern Rock songs. They'll be looking for clever instrumentation as opposed to the orchestral tones of a traditional lullaby. Sweet instrumentation and effects are what's needed here, child-like and innocent, yet created with fresh sounds and contemporary effects.

Hi Jeff,Thanks for giving this a listen. So long as "the call" isn't from someone laughing hysterically, I'll be happy!Al

Hey Al,Nice version of an old classic.....really good. I love the little story, you almost had me falling out my chair with laughter when I was reading it. Surely accordion players are the most misunderstood people... Derek

Hi Derek,Thanks for your commiseration on being an accordionist.Somewhere, I read the definition of a gentleman as "an accordion player who chooses not to".I'll have to watch my manners in other ways.Al

Alexander, Marc, Steve and Kurt,Thanks for listening and for your kind words. I was in a panic with this and only noticed it 48 hours before the deadline. I guess it was a benefit I didn't spend too much time analyzing it. I actually got a "Nailed it" comment from the screener. That was really gratifying and a first for me. Best wishes,Al
