Dear all,

Just finished a track for the below listing.
https://soundcloud.com/subinthompson/by ... re/s-ValK0
Please do listen to it and let me know your thoughts.

Hi, I like the writing and the sounds, maybe just keep the middle part a bit longer... falls a bit short to me.
You surely have some more... send them!
They want to sign New Age composers...
Go for it.

Another thing that i noticed was, they are looking for "Composers" and not "Compositions" at the moment - Not sure how it works though.
And like Rick mentioned in an earlier reply, I would have thought, no one wants to get interrupted after two minutes if they are gonna listen to relaxing music.
Correct, the listing is looking for composers, and it is true too that you want the music to go on quite a bit, but I suppose they could always chain pieces together for the sake of continuity?

"RELAXING" NEW AGE COMPOSERS are needed by an eclectic Independent Record Label for their next series of NEW AGE INSTRUMENTAL compilations. If the material is really strong, the Label might want to sign you as an Artist as well!

Please listen to the references below to get an idea of what might get this really cool Record Label interested:

Best Meditation Background Music

“Our Future” by Peder B. Helland

“Remedios” by William Ackerman

Give them top-notch, New Age Compositions that could be used to relax and inspire! Your arrangements can be based on organic or electronic instruments, or you can submit hybrids that use both! Think of the type of music that could be used by listeners for yoga, massage, and meditation to bring about a relaxing state of ecstasy!

NOTE: If you plan to use sampled/virtual versions of "organic" Instruments (guitars, pianos, etc.), please be sure that they sound like the real thing! Anything that’s obviously synthetic or MIDI-driven won’t work for this pitch.

We recommend submitting THREE Instrumentals per submission, so they can see if you’ve got depth in your material. Not a requirement – just a good idea!

I really like it. No significant criticisms. The only two minor thoughts I have are, first, when the flute enters, the first note feels slightly jarring due to the spike of the attack. While it's natural for the instrument, I wonder if perhaps putting a fairly quick fade in to smooth its entrance could be helpful in case that initial attack might break the relaxing mood. The other is just that, while it could also be construed as meditative, it feels a bit on the sad side, especially after the entrance of the cello. That's all in the interpretation of the listener, though, and it's not something I'd even consider changing, just a question of how a reviewer might see it in the context of this listing.

Thanks again for listening Rick,
I myself was confused a bit regarding the mood. I wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks.

Both seem really nice, and I'd think fitting for the listing. I did note "Starry Nights" has the (to me) sad-sounding (in a good way for the piece itself) cello again, so perhaps the same question mark on whether that is of concern in the context of the listing. But both pieces are well done.

All very pretty, Subin!
I appreciate the suggestion of Gamelan music that "By The Shore" brings out.
