renew if you're pitching to film and tv. but if you hope to get artist cuts, forget it.

Great bunch of info and insight here from everyone. Enjoyed reading everyones takes on TAXI and how it can work for you. For $199, hell, it's a tax write off. Two hundred dollars is not going to make or break anyone. I find that getting emails daily about submissions is a inspiration to get in the studio and make something new. I've created some tunes I wouldn't have finished otherwise after seeing a few submission requests that fit a past idea. It's fun for me at this point to just have something out there getting listened to for possible projects.

My renewal date is here and while Taxi has been awesome for my *musical development*, I haven't made a sale in my four years here so it looks like this is not in the cards.

I have recommended Taxi to others, but for me its been a fast-track method of musical study and growth, and not a winning business proposition.

I do wish everybody here the best of luck here, and also that you stay safe and sane during these difficult times!

And yes, several of these were written for Taxi listings:

Yes, I would say it is totally worth it, at least this way you are in the game and learning lots, you compositions have a chance to be heard. That is pretty good amount of forwards.."The five year plan" is a quote just go by but it doesn't mean you won't get a placement before that..look at other success stories from member in their first year..if anything it pushes you to write in different styles of music.

Glad you renewed.

Hi Mike

The education bit was the point I was making. I don't expect any deals from Taxi, although that would be great. I can't think of anywhere else I could learn as much for $199. That's why I renewed. Any deals are a nice bonus. :-)

I started writing in new styles this year and it feels like I have bought a house on Main Street, Returnsville at the moment but I am learning a lot.

Write, submit. LEARN, repeat.

Hope you stay on the forums at least.

Thanks Chris.

I found myself in a niche, forwardable but not sellable. Do I need 5% improvement or 20%?

Unfortunately the listings have become less interesting to me and my enthusiasm has waned.

But *no question* Taxi has been the best thing for my musical growth, including exploring different styles, and listening to the feedback (paid reviews are worth it, I've found).

Wish you the best in your explorations and I'll be sure to check back here.
Mike
