Q: music-video-slideshows - wmv to Q-time?

Post by funsongs » Tue Apr 14, 2020 5:16 pm

Howdy techies (of which I am SO NOT ONE).
Got 2 of these that were made on my PC in Windows Movie Maker about 5 years ago - before the PC died. :? 8-)
As they be - difficult to share.
How can I/do I reformat them to open in Quick-Time... or something else that works with Apple or iPhone devices?
In advance, thank you for any help.

Currently I'm on a MAC mini... but I've pulled the old WMM files off of the recovery external drive (an iMicro, I think) that preserved the data from the crashed PC.
Hope I stated that correctly.
Ultimately, I'd like for those to be openable/viewable on both platforms - but Q-time is what I use most.
Thanks for the link - I'll see if I can make sense of it.
Cheers,
Peter

No worries. Like any app you download, if you get an "advanced" option when you go through the download process, click on that. I can't remember if this one came with any junk it wants to put on your system. For any downloads that do offer an advanced option you can de select any 3rd party programs it wants to otherwise bundle with the download under the "easy install" banner. This is a general rule so to speak. [For future reference]

As far as the app itself, I haven't had any problems except the annoying pop up window that always comes up asking if you want the pro version [paid]. For what you want to do click on the "convert" banner then click on the blue folder "select the video file" then click the drop down arrow in the convert video box and your second option should see you right. Just check where you are saving it to and Bob should be your uncle....and if your aunty had a set of avocados she'd be your uncle too.. Sorry Peter, you just do that to people.

I haven't a clue what any of that means... so...
I copied and pasted it all into an email, which I sent to myself...
so that I can re-read it as many times as it takes. :? 8-)
That STILL doesn't mean i will get it to do what I need.
Your mileage may vary.
So... let out the clutch.

If I weren't also sorta 'plagued' by dyslexic tendencies, I might be able to navigate through.
But, alas - even the most basic instructions jump all over the page, and I lose hope.
I think I'm just gonna have to send the wmv files I have to someone who can receive them, and reformat them for me.
I reckon I'll have to pay something to have that done...
but they're family keepsakes, and therefore significant sentimental value.
Thanks for trying to help the Old-Guy.
Peter - he be me.

Hey, Lester - thanks for the kind offer. Yes, I do have Skype (& Zoom).
I've reached out to a family member for help.
If that doesn't get me there, I may take you up on that.
If so - I'll PM you my Skype username, and 'see' how that works.
Cheers,
Peter
