Any publisher open doors from TAXI forwards?

Post by lesmac » Mon Apr 20, 2020 11:59 pm

Hi folks!

I'm thinking of re joining TAXI after a years break.

My lack of "success' so far has in no doubt been due to a lack of focus on my behalf. I have felt a bit like the leopard who has been mesmerised by jumping gazelle! Which one to go for? This is in reference to listings in different genres.

I have been improving my skills bit by bit all the same, but I'm still not quite certain where to focus my efforts to achieve the best results. I have a bit of a back catalogue thanks to writing for listings and I have been tidying up old tracks that could be useable for sync [maybe, hopefully?]

I like writing songs but I have to spend quite a bit of time to make my vocals represent the song well enough. I do see the work I put in paying off though. It's like most things, "no pain no gain'. There has been improvement in that department and things are coming a bit easier. I did have a Nashville publisher say a few years back to send him tracks and at least he'd listen but he may have dropped off the radar by now. I don't see much about him on line anymore.

Anyway.... to the point of my question.

Has anyone established a relationship with a publisher that pitches to artists, through being forwarded? I know that there are variables like: have the forwarded songs been competitive enough? It's tough out there!

I can't justify a trip to the US to attend a Road Rally so that is off the table.
I understand probably 90% of TAXI success stories are due to sync/library deals. TAXI may still be the best bet in a "no unsolicited material world" but I'd be interested to hear from any members experiences.

If you would rather PM me that's fine. I won't ask who your publisher is.

Thanks for any replies.
