....not everyone in this business acts professionally  hard to know what you're going to be faced with....
Hi Anna,
Thanks for posting this topic! I'm learning a lot from the discussion.
Sorry for the newbie question, but can a time limit be written into Exclusive contracts? (Or is that frowned upon in this industry?) For example, if the contract is good for a limited time, then it can always be renewed or extended if things are going well. I'm guessing that 5 years should be long enough for some kind of income. If the song is sitting on someone's shelf, they will probably let the contract expire but you can use the expiration date as a reason to talk and keep the business relationship for more opportunities.

I know this doesn't help with your existing contract but I'm curious to know what you will do with your next Exclusive contract. Are you forced (or socially obligated) to sign an open ended contract? If you could put a time limit, how long would you set for the expiration date? 5yr? 7yrs? 10yrs? :)

Hey Anna,

I sign them all.... and could care less about the time.
And when they come up for renewal... I just sign them again.

Hi Anna!
Just a thought that crossed my mind that could factor in...
If the genre that your pieces are in is "Hot" and being used frequently in shows...
Move them to a library that is producing placements as soon as you can. (ie: Hip Hop Dramedy Cues)
If the genre is a "Stable Use", not as frequently used...
Then I would think to let them sit and keep filling up the stables with more tunes.
Hope you and your family are well,
Cass

Maybe this would be a good and appropriate QUESTION/topic for a Quarantini Happy Hour discussion.
To do so - post this question in the DESCRIPTION/COMMENT section of a previously-aired episode,
preferably the most recently posted one on the TAXI You Tube channel.
Cheers,
