Got news yesterday, Apr 30th, from co-writer/singer Rusty Perez - stating his vocal rendition got the forward for our track:

Re: Christmas song - collaboration
Thanks, Tom - actually - yeah - that's the 'simple/stripped-down' version.
In the works are several other, fuller arrangements - harmonies, drums, female vocal, key change.
Now that it's gained a foot-hold, "we" can expand on it.
Cheers,
Peter

Congrats Peter and gang! That is one sweet Christmas song. It's got Hallmark written all over it. I can see why it got the forward. Great lyrics Peter, you should be proud
I'm sure that song will find a good home this Christmas.

I hope to get to post the FULLER version(s) soon - I think they are even MORE fitting in what you stated: that HALLMARK MOMENT.
Those are the comparison words that have followed that song for a very long time. Nice to finally have it in production form!
Yeah - I'm stoked. FINALLY.

Re: Christmas song - collaboration
Congratulations Peter! Nice collaboration work!
I'd love to hear how you put everything together from concept to creation. Did you meet physically or did everyone do their part remotely and you mixed the audio files together?
However you did it, it turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

Re: Christmas song - collaboration
Well - okay: it started with a poem, literally a hand-written card I sent to my family, friends, and clients (longer ago than I want to reveal).akira wrote: ↑Sat May 02, 2020 11:38 amCongratulations Peter! Nice collaboration work!

I got several replies to that, stating, "Peter - you should send this into Readrer's Digest or Hallmark." Felt flattered, but never did any of that.
Much later, I found it in an old file, and decided to try to pare it down into a song structure, and put it to music.
I had a rough idea for its chord structure and melody - but was concerned I might be too 'stuck' in the 'same-old, same-old'.
And - I'd really not done much Adult Contemporary style.
SO - I posted an ad for co-writer on the Collaboration Corner board, here on the Forums - and Rusty Perez answered.
I've not yet met Rusty face-to-face - but we did cross paths at the 2019 Road Rally - AFTER we had already done the song's worktape.
What was 'wild' about what Rusty came up with... it was similar to my own original idea... that it served as a confirmation, 2 things:
1) we had the right vibe & mood. 2) that he was the right partner for the project.
I agreed to the role of initially getting/hiring the parts with people I already knew.
Collected and assembled all the recorded-remotely tracks, with a local studio/engineer's help.
I sang the first DEMO; and sent the worktape to Rusty.
His part of the partnership - along with the TAXI business interaction - was to do his vocal track.
He sings way better than me! LOL... everyone does, just about.
I've been rePete'dly told/critiqued - that mine is a 'character' voice - only suited to a few genre. (that's why I call 'em funsongs).
Proof of that was - my recording of our song got returned. While Rusty's got the forward. Good for him!!

Rusty's taken the song from there, and I'm still hiring out 'parts', getting them sent to Rusty; and he's taking it/them the rest of the way.
We're still moving ahead as a team, and aiming at that all-important Hallmark Moment & placement... or, PLACEMENTS!

Sorry for the long story - but, you asked to know - so there you go.
Thanks for asking, hope that helps.
Your mileage may vary.
Cheers,
Peter
