Solo Piano music video

I used some older public domain footage for one of my new piano tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Utv0kck7gU

I decided to try out a google ad campaign for this video and I was wondering if anyone else has tried using google ads on youtube for a music video? I set the parameters to include classical music enthusiasts... I considered selecting only specific related videos or channels for the video ad, but it seemed like that would lower the amount of total views? I am very new to music video marketing strategies (haha).

Curious about your choice of video. I know, gentle nature scenes are a bit cliche about now for contemplative piano. But this video makes me wonder when the comedy music will start? It's a bit jarring to me. Maybe others will not agree. JM2C

That's a pretty good point haha. I really did this first video as a test for marketing. I have another one planned with drone nature footage, and then an animated video after that in the future. And thanks, I have a feeling that in the future I may want to go with more targeted ad placements using modern classical artists rather than the broad classical music enthusiast group.

I figured I would post an update for anyone curious about the youtube advertising results. I only specified the audience to be music lovers or classical music lovers(no specific artists or youtube channels for reference). With this first video I selected around 8 countries with Poland being one of them and likely the cheapest market within the list. So, the google ad system pretty much showed the ad 95% of the time in that cheapest market. I spent around $105.00 to get a little over 10,000 views. I would say the engagement (likes and comments) was relatively low, but there were some nice ones and maybe gained around 25 subscribers.

Overall I don't know that it is particularly worth doing unless you plan on releasing a lot of content on youtube. When I promoted my second video, I set the video to only play on several famous modern piano composers' channels (ludovico einaudi, olafur arnalds, etc) and then I did not set any location parameters. I spent $50, and got around 5,000 views, but with way more subscribers (around 57).

I also tried Facebook advertising, which didn't seem to produce great results haha. I suppose I would need to practice more with the Facebook advertising platform, but the interface is a bit more complicated and it is difficult to get people to actually go to a Spotify page through a hypedit link to then save a song.

Since i'm going over different music promotion methods, I will mention that I once used the service "playlist push", which did produce around 4,000 streams for my track on spotify (it was not the best piano solo song ever)... but I noticed that they included me on many playlists that are free to submit to using something like "sound plate.com" and some playlists that are on submit hub. It probably depends on the genre and quality of the song, but it seems like the service only really helps if you spend a lot more money there or have an amazing song. I spent $250 for that campaign, whereas with sound plate and submit hub I was able to get a similar amount of plays for a different song of comparable quality for much less money.

I used to use one website called "OmariMC", which basically guarantees spotify playlist placement for $77. Today I would say that the quality of their playlists isn't so great and that it's maybe not worth doing anymore. I don't think they use fake listeners, but the playlists don't seem too great for the money.

Anyway, it seems that youtube advertising and submit hub are among the cheapest options for promoting music on youtube or spotify.
I would be interested to hear if anyone has used other services that work well for music promotion.
