revision process advise
Hi folks, just got a return on a submission and a bit confused on how to proceed...
the screener advised me to remove an element in the mix that was distracting. how do i go about resubmitting the track with the revision once done??

Re: revision process advise
Hey, i just got a return with the same critique-- it was for an ambient drone cue listing. The screener found a piano motif that I had put in the foreground too prominent for the listing-- maybe my submission would have gotten a forward with that element removed.
When you get a Return there's no opportunity to resubmit--that's the end of the line for that particular submission/listing. It sucks-- it would take me about 10 seconds to go into my DAW and mute the piano track the screener found to be a dealbreaker, but that's the way it is. Maybe there will be another similar listing coming up and you can edit your track and resubmit.
Curious if your return was for the same listing (S200723AD).

hi ted, yes same listing. kinda threw me off when the screener said if i removed it the track will work. not the first time getting a feedback like that so i figured im missing a process with submissions. im in a few libraries where sometimes they ask for revisions and i just resend it and judging by the feedback i though taxi started to work the same way. thanks for the clarification

The feedback you got on your return was so similar I knew it had to be the same listing. Well, sorry about the return but I checked out some of your music and you've got some good tracks, so I wouldn't sweat this listing too much-- but it's frustrating, I really wanted a forward on this one too.
Cheers,
Ted

Re: revision process advise
no worries here, I can wait for a listing or submit it to the ones i work with. I did get a few fwds yesterday so its all good.
thanks for the kind words, and dont get frustrated, eventually your pets will find a home. once you start working with a bunch of libs your options widen, like pieces to a puzzle. you win half the battle by simply hanging in there

It's just a learning opportunity for next time, otherwise they'd never get everything screened.
But then....for another listing it might not be applicable and the edit is not needed !

Yeah, it's all good. This was only my second attempt at submitting something in the ambient/drone realm and even though these tracks seem easy, it seems like the listings have more of a specific limit on what exactly is suitable-- and it's going to take me some time to figure out how to read these listings.
Here's the track I submitted:

Glad I found this thread, same thing happened to me with two tracks on that listing. I guess the listing was packed

I think this track would work great as a investigative tension cue, i would not take out the piano and wait for a tension listing. i liked it!Ted wrote: ↑Sat Sep 12, 2020 6:34 amYeah, it's all good. i'm not that keen on ambient either, i have a few in libs but it was a slippery slope. i realized its easy to get influenced by your last experience. i had to revise one for a lib cause i didnt do enough, and before that vice versa. its a tough balancing act for us writers cause we lean towards doing more than needed instinctively. and its easier to subtract than add. and libs would usually ask for a bed/reduced/narrative ver anyway, to a point where you just have a one finger drone left (which feels like cheating to me lol)
your on the right track ted, if you end up going the tension route, i would suggest building it up towards the end
