Re: Thanksgiving Challenge - write & post your pie
I'm going to give myself an extra day, due to the unexpected birthday-related festivities at the BMV today. They refused to renew my license, which expires at midnight, because thanks to the magic of computers, an unpaid fine from Florida in 1984 jumped up and bit me squarely in the a$$, despite the long-expired statute of limitations. Fortunately, thanks to the magic of computers, fourteen phone calls, three extra round trips between my house and the BMV, and quite possibly the only competent customer service rep in the entire state of Florida, (bless her solid gold heart) I now have a new ugly license, with a new ugly photo of my ruggedly handsome mug, and the privilege of being able to legally pick up my elderly mother at the airport tomorrow. Yay.So tonight, I'm gonna go catch a few tunes from the town's latest hotshot blues trio, maybe sit in on Voodoo Chile, raise some sand, tip back a cold one, bed down with a hot one, get up tomorrow, do it all again.Tomorrow is another day.

I like it tricia, very cool groove. Who needs a bridge!!!!Dick, I'm listening to yours now, very lush!Well, I just tried to remember as best as I could the old chord changes my dad used to play and sort of altered them around to fit my lyrics. He really liked that old style Johnny Cash traditional kind of stuff so I tried to keep it in that vibe.here ya go (i'd been trying to write this song for years & it only ended up taking a few hrs., how crazy is that?)http://www.billgaunce.com/song/101

Tricia...a very phat beat you have created...i like the bass mix(these days im trying to wrap my brain around how to make afull lower range spectrum with out it being too muddy...i willlearn from your example!)Dick...this reminds me of kind of a song that danny elfman wouldhave scored..a romantic 50s kind of ballad~ niceCould I have some more BASS please?,(asking in my best Tiny Tim accent) i think it would fill out the mix if you did so, big time!:)Bill-I didn't expect the song would be this upbeat..and i think that's great: ) any plans for harmonies in this puppy?

Re: Thanksgiving Challenge - write & post your pie
Please tell me I didnt rip this off!!! This is one of those songs that pretty much wrote itself. I wrote the lyrics and the basic arrangement in 30 minutes last weekend. NO LIE!!!! Ive spent the last couple of unemployed days putting it together.Ive done 1 of 2 things:1. Ive totally ripped off every christmas song ever written including the bible. ( I wonder if GOD sues for copyright infringement)OR2. Ive written my best freakin song ever in 20 years of songwriting.Ive searched for similarities and havent found any. If someone else knows of any PLEASE tell me so I can destroy this! A star shining bright http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... rueMatthew E Hoggard©In a far off eastern landword came to the kingA savior would be coming soonOf whom angels would singThe King went out through foreign landsSearching for the oneWho would come and bring peace to allHeaven sent it's only son.(chorus)Starlight starbrightIn the eastern sky to show the world the wayIt shines down over bethlehemLeading Kings and guiding common menFor a king is born and in a manger laysA star shining bright to show us all the way.In a field a lowly shepherd boyIs awakened in the nightIt was a vision of an angelshimmering in pure lightThe angel said behold this nightA savior is bornHis name shall be Christ the kingand the lord of all lords.(chorus)Starlight starbrightIn the eastern sky to show the world the wayIt shines down over bethlehemLeading Kings and guiding common menFor a king is born and in a manger laysA star shining bright to show us all the way.In a stable a shepherd boy Bows before a KingA King bows low before a child All the while the Angels singHallelujah and hosanna resoundOn this Holy nightThe King if Kings is born beneathA star shining bright.repeat chorus
