Presuming that you mean the kind of trailer that are promo ads for upcoming tv shows.

I have had two of those kind of placements and the second one just paid but the first one didn't.
Both seemed to be on decent channels where I have seen payments before.

Just checked back and noticed that the paying placement was a network channel and the other a cable.
No idea if that is relevant but it's 50/50 for me so far.

Actually asked the same question around the time I saw the first one crop up on tunesat but got no responses to it.

Sounds like you mean promos, not trailers. I don't know a lot about it but I have heard some people have had trouble getting paid for promos and they've had to do a lot of their own leg work to get paid. You might want to call your PRO and discuss it with someone there. Most PROs don't accept Tunesat detections as proof of broadcast but there may be other ways.

Good luck!
:D Casey

Wow, that would be insane if there was no money coming from that!
There were over 100 detected plays in the end.

Interesting find!

I thought it explained my limited promo experience but checked again and both promos were on cable channels (MTV (nothing) & Paramount Network (paid))

I am with PRS and the payment come via BMI under "USA (BMI) General & Broadcasting" and both tracks in question were originally registered under BMI by a US publisher.

So still confused!
btw - the Paramount promo that paid out had only 2 TS detections - the MTV one had 32 and if it had paid out at the same rate it would have been close to $1K.

Not complaining as MTV have been my biggest payer.

Just curious.

According to the sheets I have from my pro, promo use is usually included in sync fees. So I would think they plan to use the song in the show also, as that would probably clear the promo use.

There was no Sync Fee for the usage, and AFAIK it wasn't in the actual TV Show , as nothing else was detected by SoundCloud other than the Promo spots

Could it then be part of an agreement between the show and the library, that they could use the track for the promo? Promos can be individually negotiated and part of a deal.

Yea, I think that's the only way to get the right information here.
