Happy about this Forward

Post by youseeitsme » Tue Nov 24, 2020 1:15 pm

I saw this listing and said two days ummmm that's crazy! No way that's gonna happen. Then I went upstairs and started writing lol. Challlange!!!!

SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male Vocals are needed VERY QUICKLY by a Music Supervisor for a $200 placement in a Hulu TV show!

This Supervisor is DESPERATE to find a song that has the same Tempo, Vibe, Style, Instrumentation, Vocal Delivery and overall Emotion as Chris Cornell’s cover of Billie Jean, but they are NOT looking for another cover of Billie Jean!

Instead, this Supervisor wants an Original Song that has “the same sensibilities.”

"Billie Jean" by Chris Cornell

They're NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!

VERY IMPORTANT:

They need a LONG song that’s about the same length as Cornell’s song, because the song runs through an entire scene! Good P.R.O. dollars ;-)
Your song needs to start out in an intimate, stripped-down mode then build and blow up at the same timings as Cornell’s song!
The lyrics are not critical for this, but something that lends itself well to the bluesy, plaintive, emotional, blood and guts vocal delivery IS important. Universal lyrics that don’t tell a story like Billie Jean does will likely work best!
Express general, emotional thoughts like, “I can’t go on without her,” but avoid specific lyrics like, “I miss her golden hair and piercing blue eyes.”
Don’t forget, matching the TEMPO is critical because they’ve edited the scene to the reference.
We’re sorry the sync fee isn’t higher for this; but we suspect they’ve blown through their music budget already, they’re up against an air date, and they wish they hadn’t cut the scene to the reference.

Your job is to save the day, earn a gold star with the Director and the Music Supervisor, get a sweet placement on Hulu, and keep all the rights so you can pitch this for Film Trailers and TV Promos in the future ;-)

Broadcast Quality is needed.

The license fee for this placement is $200. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recording, plus you’ll also get 100% of the License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recording to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. NO DEADLINE EXTENSIONS for this request. Sorry folks, but we're on an extremely tight deadline, so please don't even ask! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Saturday, November 21st, 2020. TAXI # S201121SS

Agreed. This idea got vocally depressing real quick.

Thanks and I'd never be afraid to slip in a little Metallica. Not what I was trying to do with this one but I guess you're always a little harnessed to your influences no matter what kind of music you write.
