---------------------
Lots of LIGHT DRAMEDY INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Music Library with a great history of Reality TV placements!
Please submit Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues that would fall within the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:
Tyler Cameron's Massage Prank | The Bachelor (from 3:00 to 3:58) https://soundcloud.com/user-821191058/d ... MhO64lCDHR
"Sneaky Snitch" by Kevin MacLeod https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3_Fh24AGBE
RHONJ Season 11 Premiere (from 6:45 to 7:02) https://soundcloud.com/user-821191058/d ... MhO64lCDHR
Please submit well-composed, LIGHT Dramedy Instrumental Cues that could work well in quirky and funny scenes in the context of Reality TV shows. Craft your pieces around a singular motif, and create a sense of forward-movement and dynamics by layering instrumentation in and out as they progress. Instrumentation in the same general vein of the references will suit your submissions well. Be sure to avoid submitting anything that sounds too busy, as it could interfere with a scene’s dialog. Your production and any and all software sounds you use need to be polished and modern, as well.
TAXI Tip: This library needs a bunch of Instrumental Cues in this style; so if you’ve got the goods, don’t be shy about submitting multiple pieces for this opportunity!
All submissions should be about 90 seconds to 2 minutes long (give or take) with non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy the examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.
This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You’ll split any upfront sync fees 50/50. You'll keep 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021. TAXI Dispatch # D210317LD

Re: feedback on dramedy instrumental
well, i'm not an expert on dramedy, but here goes anyway: the biggest issue with me is lack of variation through the whole track, it pretty much sounds the same. i would like more build and release to keep interest. the sounds sound good to me, but i think there's an unbalance with the panning. the orchestral hits are panned far left, but there's nothing to counterbalance it. good luck with it.
now please give feedback on my post right below if you could be so kind

Hey Kaz!
i think you have a good track and works pretty well. maybe the only thing i'd suggest is trying to give it more swing because to me it sounds over quantized.
but other than that; i think you nailed it.

Hey Melodymessiah (btw clever name for this industry), Thanks for the feedback! I will look into making the variations of each section stand out more. I think if I wait another section before the mallet instruments come in, for example, then it will sound like there's more build and release. I'm glad you mentioned the mix about the panning because I've never been 100% sure about where to put those percussion sounds. Now I know to do something to balance those high frequencies.melodymessiah wrote: ↑Sat Mar 06, 2021 8:58 pmwell, i'm not an expert on dramedy, but here goes anyway: the biggest issue with me is lack of variation through the whole track, it pretty much sounds the same. i would like more build and release to keep interest. the sounds sound good to me, but i think there's an unbalance with the panning. the orchestral hits are panned far left, but there's nothing to counterbalance it. good luck with it.

Great suggestion! I've been given that feedback by taxi screeners before so it's good to get your ear on it before I submit. I'll be sure to add some swing to those notes.
Much appreciated,
Kaz

Re: feedback on dramedy instrumental
The string pizz sound good and the melody is working.
I might suggest you have a little more going on in the background during some sections. I feel this piece has a melody and some drums but not much else. Try giving it a little more harmony in the back. That might help develop it. As long as you don't go too crazy you should be able to still keep it light. You could also have some call and response between the pizz strings and the clarinet.
I think some edit points would really help too.
Just throwing some ideas out. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback! Great suggestions about adding to the background and putting in some call and response even done on a more subtle level. I've noticed all the reference tracks have exactly those elements, which I seem to leave out unless I go bad to the track after a couple of days with a fresh pair of ears. I would also like to put in some edit points and make them stand out more.
Much appreciated!!

Re: feedback on dramedy instrumental
Howdy!
I'm new here so take this with a massive grain of salt.
I'm classically trained (don't shoot me) so I'm having a little bit of trouble "following" the harmonies, if you know what I mean. They aren't bad or dissonant, just a little confusing.
I think the instrumentation throughout is catchy and captures the mood described in the brief. Possibly a little more variety would be helpful. My only complaint is I don't think the snare drum contributes in a positive way to the sound. Something slightly pitcher like a bongo might blend in better, and also be more reminiscent of the first example track provided.
I'm definitely still trying to wrap my head around the whole art of mixing, but to my ears I thought it sounded nice and lush.
Best of luck,
Margaret
