No success yet, but…

Post by Miztone » Tue Jun 29, 2021 7:20 am

No forwards for this new starter yet. To be fair though, I don’t yet have a wide enough range of material - I’m working on that. I feel I’m honing in, mostly due to the advice picked up from Taxi TV and these forums - but especially from the constructive feedback received. Thanks Taxi family. This is a success story for me already as I’m definitely getting into the groove in more ways than one and my forthcoming material will help with Taxi attempts. Won’t be long…

Keep on pushing! Even with pretty decent music and production knowledge it took me months to push the forward rate from less than 10% to above 50%. Looking back only 3 or 4 months back I'm like: phuuuuu...how could I've been so off target then! Taxi TV and the Forum is definitely the key! Good luck!

You mentioned not having "a wide enough range of material." Don't worry about that, focus instead on writing music that you are comfortable/familiar with and good at, and that you have the proper instruments/software to create. I wasted my first two years at Taxi submitting to everything that I thought I could write, instead of focusing on what I was good at writing. Made a huge difference once I realized that. Dance with the one that brung ya', as they say. Work on making your music sound as goo as possible musically and from an engineering perspective.

I agree with Paulie: don't worry so much about breadth .Depth is more likely to get you attention. You can always branch out once you find your niche.

I would say just keep writing to the Listings that chime with you but I'm with t'other Graham - spread your wings a bit because you never know what hitherto untried genre might hoike you in.

The stuff on your website sounds polished and broadcast ready so you're already over a major hurdle that many struggle with. I predict if you keep at it you'll get come success.
