IRISH STEP DANCING INSTRUMENTAL
********************************************
>Final version<
********************************************
----
EDIT:
Rejected by screener because: "This needs more layers, more instrumentation and more going on in the second half to help with some build. The ending could also be bigger, more dramatic and offer more resolve."
----
Get yourself a Guinness and tell us ...
Does it really fit the listing?
Do you like it?
How could it be improved, especially production-wise?
Does having a second fiddle coming in at the very end work?
Thanks!!!

IRISH STEP DANCING INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Music Licensing Company that specializes in music for content creators as well as TV shows and Film projects!
NOTE: We previously ran this request as TAXI Dispatch Listing #D210730RS, but the Company didn't find what they were looking for. If you submitted to listing #D210730RS, please send different material this time around.
This Company is searching for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could be found on a playlist with the following references:
"Reels (Violin)" by Chris and Michelle McLoughlin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpZxnU0eIRA
"Echo" by Talisk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZknSJwYdayI
"Dolan's 6AM" by Beoga
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk7BBweNm8I
Please submit Irish Step Dancing Instrumentals (yep, the kind you probably heard when those River Dance commercials were all over TV) that are rhythmically and melodically engaging from beginning to end. Your submissions should have solid melodies, infectious rhythms, and top-tier musicianship. Authentic-sounding Irish/Celtic instrumentation like the fiddle, harp, flute, guitar, etc. will suit your submissions best. If you're planning on using any virtual instruments, they need to sound like the real thing and can't be stiff or synthetic-sounding. Your production should be high-quality, as well.
Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length and no longer than 4 minutes. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast Quality is needed.
This Company offers both EXCLUSIVE and NON-EXCLUSIVE deals. The specific deal points will be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you’re inclined to sign an Exclusive deal, please don’t submit material that’s already signed with other libraries or publishers for this pitch. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this opportunity. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Sunday, August 22nd, 2021. TAXI # S210822RS

Re: "O'Hurwicz's Reel" - IRISH STEP DANCING INSTRUMENTAL
Hey there!
I'll give a closer listen later. On my car stereo, at least, your fiddle sounded authentic enough. Did you write this reel yourself, though, or is it a "standard" I've just never heard before? I ask because on this first listen I'm having trouble parsing the sections and repeats. If I were trying ti dance it, I could find the best easily enough but I'd be a little lost as to *when* to start. Does that make sense? Nice sound, though!
Cheers,
Margaret

Re: "O'Hurwicz's Reel" - IRISH STEP DANCING INSTRUMENTAL
Thanks for the listen, Margaret!
It has an A-B pattern repeating five times:
A: G| G| C| C| G| Em| D| F#m B7|
B: Em| Em| Am| Am| Em| Em| Bm| D D7|
Do you think there is anything we should/can do to make it easier to feel a starting point?

It is not a standard - our own creation -- kind of -- the fiddling is provided by Andy Leftwich via Band in a Box.Margaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:48 amI'll give a closer listen later. Re: "O'Hurwicz's Reel" - IRISH STEP DANCING INSTRUMENTAL
I'm so sorry, I thought I'd get an email notification when there was a reply. Apparently not...
Two things that jump to mind for "parsing"--
1) A very traditional way to open a piece like this would be a one-measure intro of two half-note dominant chords, so here |D7 D7| It just kind of sets the beat and frames the ear a little bit.
2) Also very normal when live musicians are playing is a bit of a breath at the end of each A or B section/repeat-- if you are riffing on the guitar, for instance, maybe just hit the first three beats in that last measure, then a rest on the fourth beat.
Hope this helps! Best of luck!

Thanks, Margaret. Will definitely look at those possibilities. The pause is also helpful to editors, so win-win.
BTW, I do see a checkbox at the bottom when I'm creating a post/reply:
"Notify me when a reply is posted"
I just never checked that box before. Gonna try it now.
