Ibz, be sure to submit this one for the Wacky/Fun listing that's due... I think the first week of March! What orch library are you using? I'm particularly interested in the very first melodic inst - clari or oboe - that's pretty nice!My piece "Quirky 1" got returned; the reviewer said the woodwinds weren't up to par and also that I should add some reverb (I purposely left it on the dry side because it was supposed to be sparse acc. to the listing). Oh well! Another case of me trying too hard compositionally and missing the mark in production. I'll get it.

Hey, thanks alot CK, Dave & Dick! CK, we'll do on the wacky/fun listing comin' up. I'm using EWQL Gold & Silver. Yeah, that's a clarinet you're hearing, but there is an oboe (I think it was an oboe) in there too doin' a chromatic run. I had to use 2 separate articulations on the clari. One staccato, and one legato. Same for the piccolo flute & the trombone. Well, I used the pitch bend wheel on the trombone. Sorry about the [R] , happens to the best of us. We all gotta keep at it. I'm sure you'll get it. This orchestral stuff does take alot of practice & listening, that's for sure. Thanks for listening everyone. 'Preciate the time! ibanez468PS -- Kitz, you may hafta try more than once. Maybe 2 or 3 times. It should stream eventually. It's streaming for me right now, and the others have been able to listen, so it must be OK.

yeah, it's funny -- I got the rejection email last night after having a bummer weekend for other reasons (everything's generally OK, just little stuff) and it was just icky icing on a cruddy cake. And then my sweetie and I turned on the TV in hopes of cheering ourselves and landed on, of all things, the Gran Prix ice-skating finals, just in time to watch a young man -- the child of two Olympic champion figure skaters -- fall on his butt. Not once but twice. In front of his home crowd (Japan). And I said, "It's all about getting back up, isn't it?" And my sweetie said, "You bet it is," and gave me a little peck on the cheek. So there ya go.I also find it's really great therapy to congratulate the people who did get through! Knocks the sour-puss right out of me.Thanks for always being encouraging, IBZY!

@CK -- Definitely keep at it, it sounds like you're close! One of my happy/fun forwards was a previous return that I fixed up and re-submitted, so there's hope yet even for returned pieces.Believe me, I have been flattened by Taxi returns before and it took me months to get back to it. But I would have been much happier getting right back in the game.

I keep hearing props for the EWQL sets. Yep, I used as many as four articulations on some instruments in mine. I threw it on a Peer to Peer thread if you'd like to help me out with any specifics. Or just hit my taxi page (www.taxi.com/ckbarlow/) and check out Quirky 1. Any and all (constructive!) comments welcome!
