About Me and My Successes

I haven't updated this in a while but I'm proud of the placements mentioned.

I've mentioned on this forum that I've had over 40 uses on The Young and the Restless. Here is a video clip of one of my favorite placements. The actress in the scene actually refers to the song. :D This song was co-written with the incredible Marcus Cohen. :D

I'm primarily a vocal songwriter. It varies from me writing all the music and lyrics to me just writing the lyrics, to any and all combos of collab. I've had some cue placements by co-writing on those with very talented Taxi members. Also, I've had quite a few backing tracks (with or without my edits) to my vocal songs used on reality TV. Most of you know I'm a total non-performer. All the recordings are WFH, recorded by collab-er, or a combo.

:D 8-) Casey

Casey:

I'm primarily a vocal songwriter, like you. As a newbie, I was glad to see you sometimes used your songs stripped of the vocal as a submission. That's exactly what I was thinking about doing. So now I know it's okay, since a pro did it. :)

Keep on writing,

Your successes are well deserved.

I love the way you pay it forward by being such a positive presence on these forums too.

Congrats and may the best be yet to come.

Just to clarify. Vocal tracks stripped of the vocals often don't work as a cue, especially for Taxi listings which tend to be a bit higher end. Sometimes shortening and editing to focus on the right parts works-- I've had some forwards that way. But early on, I worked with some libraries that did seem to get the backing tracks used on reality TV. Many of the placements were low paying, a few were nice like on America's Got Talent, The Voice, and others.

There was a Taxi friendly library that placed a number of my backing tracks on Catfish (MTV) and that pays well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the library survived the downturn of the pandemic.

I just don't want anyone to get the impression that all you have to do is strip vocals from a vocal song and you have forward-worthy cues. Occasionally.

Best,
:D Casey

Congrats Casey! That clip from Y&R was great! You should be very proud of that and all that you have accomplishes as a non-performing artist . I do identify with what it takes to be in that position and you seemed to have pulled it off. :) :)

All the best

Tom
