Advice - S220209SD - SAD, MINIMALIST PIANO & STRINGS INSTRUMENTALS

Post by psteege » Tue Feb 01, 2022 9:10 am

Hi all,

This is my first post here so please be gentle :) This is one submission for S220209SD - (Taxi) SAD, MINIMALIST PIANO & STRINGS INSTRUMENTALS. It's not had much of a mix/master just looking for any advice whether the general vibe or arrangement is off-target / on point, etc. I'm not sure whether I've quite got the violin line right. I thought initially it might be a little static, but anyway, all feedback is gratefully appreciated, or just if you think it's a load of old tripe, I won't take it personally I promise :D
Thanks in advance!

Pete

Beautiful music, it sounds like you are trying to emulate the first reference track. To me the violin is lost in the mix and should come forward more, try to get more of the rosin on the string sound. The piano tone is nice, but it's a bit muddy at the bottom, this jumped out at me in the very beginning. Perhaps cut the low end EQ on the reverb? I think the music itself is perfect for the listing, just need to work on the mix a little.

Hope this helps.

Nice work. I agree as well. The violin needs to be more present. Right now the piano is taking the front and center role, and while listening to the reference tracks it seems as though the violin needs to. Looking forward to hearing the remix.

This is beautiful. Agree with the comments above. Well written and played. I'm crying over here.
