Hello Everyone,
Approximately two years ago there were lots of listings in many genres that were being sought by a new company started by a successful music editor. I haven't seen other listings with that headline so if you signed with them you probably know who I'm referring to. I'm wondering if any other members signed with them and have had any placements so far? I signed about thirty tracks with them and already know that placements are never guaranteed, I'm just curious....

Non exclusive. I've been submitting them to other non exclusive opportunities as well.

It is not always a bad move to pull a track from a non-exclusive library. IF you are doing it because of a better opp with an exclusive library, it can sometimes be the right thing to do. It doesn't always burn bridges as long as you are professional, go by the contract, and don't be a jerk about it. But yes, if you are doing it and planning to keep the track in the non-exclusive world, it doesn't make any sense.
Be careful. Be sure the library has confirmed to you in writing that the track has been removed with effective date, etc. I am NOT suggesting you do this willy nilly all the time.
In the scenario I mentioned above, I would let the exclusive library know first that you'd like to pitch them a track that is signed with a non-exc but the reversion clause option is available to you now so you can remove it. Make sure that you are upfront with them and that they are even interested. Libraries don't like surprises. Some exclusives will not consider a track that was in a non-exclusive, even if pulled. Not telling them is risky since if they find out later and don't like it, you'll damage that relationship.
Also, this applies when you have a track in one non-exclusive library, not a whole bunch. Once I have a song in multiple non-exclusive libraries, I keep it in the non-exc world forever and don't remove any.

Hey Tom, thanks for that video, great info! I'm not looking to pull my tracks at all, I can see where that would make the company look bad and also burn some bridges along the way. I was just curious if there have been any placements so far as I'm under the impression they signed quite a few Taxi members. ML just had a TAXI TV show where he mentioned members that had pulled non-ex tracks out of a library!
1. That makes no rational sense once the decision non-ex has been made.
2. Potentially burns bridges, because the library owner now looks like a fool.
It starts at 26:00 - what a nightmare (listen especially from 28:58 onward)! Sounds like a guarantee to get on an inofficial "blacklist"...

Hi Casey, yes that absolutely makes sense. I should have been more clear in my original post, I'm not looking to pull any music from their library as I know we're all playing the long game here.
