Epic Hip-Hop/ORCHESTRAL HYBRID INSTRUMENTALS
Hi, today I did a Track for listing # S220326HH. I hope I'm able to do another one tomorrow. What do you think?

Hey Rolf. I've had some placements with this sort of stuff. The words I picked out from the listing...
hard-hitting
huge
larger than life vibe
engaging rhythms
plenty of epic energy
I'm not really getting any of that here. I think it's far too polite and doesn't match any of the above desciptors...it sounds more like a tension cue for a cooking show or something.... doesn't have that weight, punch and swagger I would expect from Epic Hip Hop.
I would label it as a hip hop tension track and study the refs more closely, maybe watch some hip hop tutorials before writing the 2nd one. Also might be an idea to listen to some Sport Hip Hop in other Libraries.

Hi Mark, thank you for listening and your comments. One of my weaknesses is to really shoot every bullet I have in my libraries when it comes to epic stuff toward the end. If you have time, please listen to the track again.cosmicdolphin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 4:11 pmHey Rolf. I've had some placements with this sort of stuff. The words I picked out from the listing...

I gave the kick some dirt with Steinberg's squasher and also treated the snare with some tube saturation. The low cellos I doubled with the low strings from Ark1 an Octave lower. Then I've added two Horns Of Hell tracks and added some more Epic melody lines, sometimes along with cello longs. Then I had to spend some time cleaning the clutter in the frequencies between 50 and 200 Hz. As for Sport Hip-Hop, I was able to land a track on a custom Album for FOX Sports. But I'm still not at home in this genre. Greetings from Germany. Rolf

Hey Rolf
It's made a small difference. I like the track but to me it still sounds more like a tension cue - the drums are not hard hitting enough IMHO for this type of listing and the orchestral lines are too elaborate / musical.
I don't hear Hip Hop or Epic when I listen to it.

I agree with dolphin here. To me there's not much of an arc to the track, it starts medium, increases slightly in intensity, but stays the same throughout. There is no "epic." I did not hear a big ending at all. And the snare might cause a return on its own. I didn't see the listing details or the references in the thread, but I would check out the snare and hi hats in the references since they are such a key component of hip hop.
