Feedback on Mix/Production please!

Post by MartyBoca » Fri Jul 15, 2022 1:40 pm

Hey guys,

New member, first time posting. I've been recording/mixing/producing now for about a year. This song is my latest, I would appreciate any input on the mix, production and any other thoughts you may have on how I might make it better! Thanks in advance!

I think to compete in the industry you're going to have to step it up quite a bit , at the moment it just sounds like a couple of guys having fun making music which is fine when you're just making music for yourself.

When it comes to songs that can be used for sync you're going to need better mixing, production and especially vocals to compete and get forwards so I thnk you have some work ahead of you.

The best advice is write songs specifically to the listings , watch as much Taxi TV as you can, learn more about mixing and production, get singing lessons or hire a pro singer and read the releveant books as reccommened by many Taxi members.

The upcoming Taxi TV on Monday would be a good start. Hope that helps.

Mark

Thanks guys so much for the great review and recommendations. I’m going to have to really dig in on recording and audio engineering looks like, which doesn’t thrill me, I’d much rather just focus on songwriting and not production. I’m thinking it may be better if I just paid for professional studio time and production?

That wouldn't be my approach but there are certainly long time Taxi Members that do just that - depends on your goals I guess, I'm not sure if it's profitable to pay other folk to record and/or play on your tracks but if the goal was just to hear your songs on TV then it would likely be a short cut if you didn't mind throwing money at it that you may never see again.
