Heavy ROCK

Post by JonathanEarthenMusic » Wed Mar 08, 2023 11:37 am

Hey everyone! It's been a while... I want to start coming back here more regularly, to help and be helped.

This is the first time I've mixed and mastered a heavy complex track on my own (used to source that out), and I could really use others ears and opinions... for both the track itself (is it good for the isting?) and also the mixing and mastering etc. (still very much a newbie for mixing/mastering)

My track is here: https://www.taxi.com/members/ocDl4_2KTS ... -this-hour

And The listing is https://www.taxi.com/industry#listing-D230313VK

CURRENT-Sounding HEAVY ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a prestigious International Music Publishing and Licensing Company that's doing a major expansion of their catalogue!

NOTE: This Library is FAIRLY NEW to requesting music from TAXI, so this is a great opportunity to create a new relationship for your music with a very highly-regarded company! Trust us, this is a catalog you want to be in!

This Company is on the lookout for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general wheelhouse of the following references:

"Just Pretend" by BAD OMENS https://youtu.be/ekU1dQjMsOQ

"Hypnosis" by Sleep Token https://youtu.be/2chcvo_70N0

"Times Like These" by Five Finger Death Punch https://youtu.be/IIkynbL3brQ

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this request.

Please submit contemporary Heavy Rock Songs bursting with tons of gritty, raw, rockin' energy that could work well for a variety of TV, Film, and other media placements. Your submissions should have engaging guitar riffs, solid motifs, driving rhythms, and contemporary Heavy Rock instrumentation in the general wheelhouse of the references. Compelling arrangements with plenty of dynamics, forward motion, and interest are needed as well. Please be sure your production is polished and any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality and not dated-sounding.

Your submissions should be about 3 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ Songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

NOTE: The bar will be high for this request. Please send your very best!

Hey Jonathan - really cool track! The thing that jumped out to me right away was your use of reverb, of which the drums are just swimming in, making this sound more like Queensryche era drumming rather than modern in-your-face sounds of Five Finger Death Punch. That, and the snare you used makes this track sound much older than it is.

I don't suppose this would be a huge make-or-break for most hard rock cue listings, but this one does specify that the bar is really high, so that reverb and snare are a few things you may want to revisit.

Good luck!

~~Matt

Wow, feedback from the VanderBoegh himself! Very cool! :D Thank you very much for those thoughts, Matt, I will definitely have a look at that to help get this over that high bar as you said. Cheers!

Ok, updated now with less verb, and will have to look more into that snare. Thanks again Matt
