The thrill is gone...sounds like what year?

Post by feaker66 » Tue Apr 18, 2023 6:21 am

I got this idea from an old song "after the thrill is gone". Took me about four hours yesterday to put it together. I am more into quantity than quality lately. Besides the question of what era this sounds like, does the weird bridge work or does it slow the track too much. Your two cents much appreciated.

I like the bridge.
It might sound better with some bass motion, instead of root notes or root/5ths - do a walk up or walk down on the last measure of each section.
Maybe BB King has a lock on that name or phrase "thrill is gone". Perhaps there is a different phrase to use.

If you want/need to EQ the vocals so heavily, maybe look up the EQ chain for the classic "telephone effect" and it could be a purposeful style, as if someone is singing thru the phone. Jack White has done similar vocal fx, for parts of his songs.
