Another Kitsch Track

Post by psteege » Mon Jul 10, 2023 6:47 pm

Hi all,

I'm after another (or a few) set of ears on this Kitsch track , it's not had a proper mix im just general feedback and wondering how it sounds - structure / writing wise, whether the key and flute leads might be a bit overboard, and whether it might fit the brief?

Thanks in advance!

Pete.

KITSCHY, 1960s Style INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an extremely busy Music Library with a tremendously long list of killer placements in Hit TV Shows!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This Library is open to hearing both Vintage recordings from the 1960s OR recently-recorded tracks that sound like they could've been recorded in the '60s.

This Company is looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the general ballpark of these references:

"Wave" by Antonio Carlos Jobim

"Ebb Tide" by Ray Conniff

"And I Love Her" by Santo & Johnny

"Soul Bossa Nova" by Quincy Jones

Quoting the Library: "I'm looking for stuff like the music heard in all those old '60s films and documentaries. Tracks would need to sound authentic to the period, so no modern elements mixed in, like EDM or Electronica or whatever. Just pure '60s cheese."

Please send in well-crafted Instrumentals that could transport the listener back to the 1960s! Your submissions should have memorable motifs, solid arrangements, and nostalgic instrumentation that's generally similar to the references. Any and all virtual instruments or samples you use should sound like the real thing—nothing stiff or obviously MIDI-driven will work here.

All submissions should be about 90 seconds to 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings are strongly recommended. Do NOT copy the reference tracks in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Sounds great. To me it feel more like contemporary jazz, than 60s kitschy cheese. It also feels more like an underscore, usually I interprete "instrumentals" as more of a song structure with a melody. All of the reference tracks have catchy, singable melodies.
