Energetic swing songs, male vocals, 2nd try

Could this song, "Dance with Me," work for the listing below? If not, could it be "fixed" to work? Thanks!

"Dance with Me"

(This is our attempt to create a "round peg for a round hole", after getting feedback on another song, "Joy Noise".)

ENERGETIC SWING SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for an (up to) $500 Direct-to-Filmmaker/Director Placement in an upcoming Indie Feature Film.

NOTE: This film's Director is BRAND NEW to requesting music from TAXI's members, so this is a great chance to make a little bit of money upfront; and more importantly, it's an opportunity for this Director to get to know you and your music for future films he directs!

The Director is searching for Up-Tempo Songs that could work as a replacement for "When You're Smiling" by Louis Prima which is currently temped in.

"When You're Smiling" by Louis Prima

They're NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!

NOTE: You can submit recently recorded Songs in the general production style of the reference that capture the authentic sound needed, OR if you have high-quality vintage recordings (recorded back in the day), they would love to hear those as well!

Please submit well-crafted Swing Songs that could make listeners want to get on their feet and start dancing! Your submissions should have great melodies, energetic grooves, and era-appropriate Swing instrumentation. If you plan on using any virtual instruments or samples, they need to sound like the real thing and can't feel synthetic or obviously MIDI-driven. High-quality productions and well-performed, jazzy vocals brimming with great energy are musts for this pitch as well!

Lyrics should avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, places, and profanity. Please do NOT copy the referenced Song or artist in any way, shape, or form. Use the reference only as a general guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists' music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.

The estimated license fee for this placement is (up to) $500, depending on the ultimate use.

IMPORTANT: Because you'd be licensing directly to the film's Director and not going through a publisher, you'll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recordings, plus you'll also get 100% of the License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control the Masters and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you'd like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Monday, July 17th, 2023. TAXI # S230717YU

It's cetainly a better fit than the previous song but it's not well executed enough as Graham has detailed.

Hi Michael......and to add more to Graham's comment the era when the song came out they were not doing overdrive sustained guitar leads yet until around 1956 just before Jimi Hendrix blew it up. The guitar lead should be a hollow body jazz guitar tone like Joe Pass, Herb Ellis, Wes Montgomery.

Good luck.

I always feel like I should apologise for my comments,
No, you shouldn't! :)

I'd still suggest that the best way to get through some of your road-blocks would be to find someone who shares the end vision for your tracks and and can help give them more solidity.
Would love to do that.

Composition-wise, with a whole new production, it could work. But not this way. :(
