Re: Need Objective Critique of Bluegrass Tune
I've updated my link. I added some percussion. Hopefully , it grooves better.

Re: Need Objective Critique of Bluegrass Tune
It's nice to hear the band come in and play together as a bond. Much more cohesive that way.
I'll suggest that you widen the stereo field. Other than the guitar that comes in on my left, everybody is standing in the middle. With the instruments as close-sounding as they are, I'd expect to be surrounded with sound.
There's some timing issues with the banjo, the pick-up notes are a bit jumbled.
Is there an upright bass? I didn't really hear it...

Re: Need Objective Critique of Bluegrass Tune
I'm assuming the link in the OP is the "updated" version. I still hear a lot of what folks previous to me have said. Lots of reverb and out of tune instruments and nothing is really clearly defined. Bluegrass is generally very clean and you can hear the instruments clearly, and very little reverb is used on the mix.
Listen to some Bill Monroe and Allison Kraus and see how your mix compares.
I'm not sure if this is the same listing I submitted to but they returned mine for a simple sloppy edit that chopped of the tail of a single note in the middle of the song. details matter.

While I've not thoroughly or diligently read through all the other comments, IMHO once you add drums, electric instruments, pedal-steel...
it's no longer authentic/classic Bluegrass. It's taken a turn towards something else: Americana or Country.
So - just sayin - all your instrument choices, FX, and production will move the track more towards a different or more-specific genre.
In the end, what you include in a track for submitting to a listing will need to be like it fits on a playlist with the reference tracks provided by the client.
HTH.

Re: Need Objective Critique of Bluegrass Tune
It's not my genre, but it sounds sloppy in places. There's loose and then there's out of time, there's definite skill in the playing though, which gives you something to work with. Did you record this as one live piece or do you have them on stems?
A bit of jiggery pokery with the timing on the individual instruments could pull it in line, but I'd say that may be a lot of work.
