Is this "Indie" enough?

Post by DouglasKnight » Sun Sep 03, 2023 5:20 am

What's up everybody...

I'm working on this INDIE ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENTALS listing https://www.taxi.com/industry#listing-S230921CU and would appreciate any feedback, especially if it's got enough of the "indie flavor" or not.

Here's what I have so far: https://s.disco.ac/nakrghsuoitl

Thank you!

Hi Doug
Really nice track but not like the references at all. On the references, I hear mainly just acoustic guitar. Listen to just the first few seconds of the first reference. That's what the sound you want for this listing.

I love your track! :D But it's a square peg in a round hole for this one.

Best,
:D Casey

Hi Doug,

Nice track. I learned in my earlier years when submitting acoustic guitar tracks for sync to get rid off the squeaks as they are not acceptable although some libraries don't mind most of them do to a certain degree.

Good luck.

Hey Casey! Thanks for listening - very much appreciated. I was hoping to incorporate the coveted developmental arc and give potential editors lots of options. The Lomelda reference track does add drums, bass and percussion at about the 2:00 mark https://youtu.be/EdeZXNhZnRM?si=_8xpp__B4m9-4mQG&t=120 But, maybe I'm still off the mark? Thanks again for your help as always ;)

Thanks a lot for listening! I've RX'd most of the squeakiness out now :)

Hi, this shows just how subjective it can be at times. I'll stick my neck out here and say that IMHO not only is it a great sounding track but its also an appropriate submission for this listing. I think it captures the vibe of the Lomelda ref (that has similar drums plus some awful squeaks, which you've done well to eliminate). What do I know though? :D. Good luck with it Doug.
Hey, that's great to hear! I really appreciate you taking time to listen and comment, and I hope the screeners agree with you! Either way, I enjoyed working on it :D All the best...

 I appreciate your help, Casey! Thanks to your feedback, I delayed introducing the piano so it's just guitars for the first four bars, which helps it develop. (My wife made that suggestion initially, but did I listen?)
