Feedback request--first crack at BOSSA NOVA
Hey everyone! I've been feeling a little stuck and like it's taking me too long to finish a cue, so this was my effort to bang something out quickly. I'll spend more time on it before submitting, but after about an hour of work, I'd like to get some feedback. How's it sound so far?
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

Lots of BOSSA NOVA INSTRUMENTALS and/or INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Great Music Licensing Company with lots of Film and TV placements needs some great new tracks to meet increased demand in this genre!
This Library is on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals (and/or Cues) that could be heard on a playlist with the following references:
"Menina Flor" by Luiz Bonfá - https://youtu.be/ucqbuYW_5N0?si=mNhDOaRt6yrNLzNe
"Agua de beber" by Astrud Gilberto - https://youtu.be/2SC_-h2Qplc?si=sw7uH_zHClBzwm5C
"O Barquinho" by Nara Leão - https://youtu.be/AlfsCETwGX4?si=I2CbB7FXHN0OB1ak
Although some of the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals and/or Instrumental Cues only for this request.
Please submit well-crafted Bossa Nova Instrumentals and/or Cues with an authentic Brazilian sound and feel! Your submissions should have catchy motifs, engaging Bossa Nova-style rhythms, great musicianship, and dynamic arrangements with plenty of forward motion and interest throughout. Instrumentation that's in the general wheelhouse of the references will work best. Please make sure your productions are polished, and any virtual instruments you use are high quality, realistic, and not dated-sounding. If you have Bossa Nova Instrumentals and/or Cues that could transport the listener straight to Brazil, send them in!
Your submissions should be roughly 90 Seconds long for Cues, and about 2 to 4 minutes long for Instrumentals, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

Hi Brent,
Nice track but I think the rhythm is not bossa nova, the comping pattern, listen to the ref tracks, as it stands it's a nice over all Latin track.
Submit it anyway you never know sometimes what goes through the gate.
Good luck

Nice track! I would suggest dynamics for the strings and flutes...to make them more realistic.
Cheers!

Hey Brent,
I'd change your rhythm guitar pattern, The rest 2-and rest 4 isn't a traditional bossa nova rhythm. You'd want to play more of the "Partido Alto" rhythmic figure. Partido Alto rhythm.

Thanks for taking the time to listen! That seems to be the consensus. Thanks for pointing that out. I re-tracked the guitar with a new rhythm. Hopefully it's a little more stylistically accurate.
Thanks again!

Hey Mike, thanks for that feedback and for the video link. I checked it out and re-recorded the guitar to implement those comping patterns. I appreciate you taking the time to listen!mteezykeys wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 8:32 amHey Brent,
