Feedback on Trap/Hip Hop Instro

Post by bmoBauhaus » Fri Jul 05, 2024 10:12 am

Hey I'm seeking feedback on the this trap/hip hop instro I worked on. Any comments welcome. I'm still getting my feet wet in this genre but having fun. Thank you!

My track:
https://www.taxi.com/members/N5SOUeh_Qe ... wanna-play

The Listing:
Several TRAP/HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a Grammy-nominated Songwriter/Producer working with a hot new Publishing Company that's looking for fresh, new tracks!

This Songwriter/Producer is searching for Instrumentals in the general wheelhouse of the following references:

WARNING: The following references may have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.

"Muwop" by Latto ft. Gucci Mane

"redrum" by 21 Savage

"JUDY" by DaBaby ft. Skilla Baby

Although the references have Vocals, please submit Instrumentals Only for this request.

Please submit well-crafted Trap/Hip-Hop Instrumentals with loads of swagger and a vibe similar to what can be heard in the references! Your submissions should have catchy motifs, powerful beats, seismic 808s, and dynamic arrangements with plenty of forward motion and interest. Modern Trap/Hip-Hop instrumentation that's in the general ballpark of the references will work best. Please be sure that your productions and any virtual instruments or samples you use are high-quality, modern, and genre-appropriate.

Your recording quality needs to be clean, clear, well-balanced, and good enough to represent your tracks well. Do NOT copy the referenced acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tone, texture, and overall vibe.

Hi! This is good!!! A few things:

1. I would take out the delay/reverb on the bass synth. Most current pieces in this genre are about being very in your face - you don't hear much reverb/delay like that. Any delay/reverb that is used is very subtle.... Now, in the other hand, it is cool sounding, and sometimes bucking the trend is the way to get noticed.... But that is even riskier when it comes to media music, so producer beware.

2. One of the hallmarks of trap is this kinda minimalist approach.. Your topline melody synth that comes in after 8 bars may(?) be a bit too busy/distracting. I like it!! But when I heard it, I'm thinking that some might find it too much. Now, don't totally take it out, perhaps just take some of the notes out...

3. The B section is fire!!! Beware that some publishers only want an A section though.. Some are cool with the contrasting section, some are not.

Keep grinding - it's good!
