Very sad news RIP Songmaster Tom Hoy

Post by Casey H » Fri Aug 23, 2024 4:18 pm

So sad. Long time Taxi friend, Tom Hoy ("songmaster" on the forum), passed away on August 21. Tom was one of the nicest guys and a great co-writer.

We will miss Tom very much.

RIP Tom

I just got an email from Tom's daughter, Mel. VERY sad news! Tom was such a nice, nice man, and a cherished part of our community. Very sad to lose him. Rest In Peace, Tom!

Hi Michael,

This is Mel Hoy, Tom Hoy's daughter. Unfortunately, my dad passed away two days ago on August 21st. He passed peacefully with mom and I by his side. I wanted to inform you because Taxi was such a huge part of dad's life for many, many years. He also really enjoyed being interviewed by you for YouTube and I'm so glad I can see his face anytime through those videos.

Tom will be missed,

Take care,
Mel Hoy

Thank you, Michael.
I'm still in shock, having gotten that email. I found it hard to find words. Tom was one of the good guys. Very talented, humble and personable. A joy to co-write with.

I also have Tom to thank for referring me to the music production studio I use now. That has helped me get a number of library deals.

My heart goes out to Tom's family at this time. Sincerest condolences.

Casey

Oh, Man - Michael - thank you for this post; and it makes me appreciate all the more that you did the interview series with Tom.
Sadly, I never got to meet him face-to-face; but his presence & engaging on these forums, indeed, made us friends all the same.
He will be greatly missed.
I hope you have a chance to convey to his family such sentiments.
I will miss you, Tom Hoy.
Sincerely,
Peter

This original link to Tom's obituary has nothing yet. This is a better link: https://brantfordexpositor.remembering. ... 1090673443

Tom was 74. Way too young. :(

I am very sorry to hear this. I always enjoyed Tom's songs and he gave me some very good feedback on quite a few of my songs over the years.
