I refuse to give up on my music cuz I'm old

Post by feaker66 » Tue Sep 10, 2024 7:40 am

So many friends have stopped writing new songs. Sad. My once partial talent is now fading and I am ok with that. Just finished two carpal tunnel surgeries and my fingers are not functioning too well. My voice at 75 is going downhill. I am although very happy :) I wrote this poem last week and decided to put it to music. I lost my EZ drummer and had to settle for a very limited drum plugin. There is no excitement, breaks, or chorus so far. Just a demo of my thoughts. Any 2 cents would be liked. Paul

The breeze

A playful breeze a falling leaf.. soars high into the air D G A
It dances with the morning sun..a waltz so free and fair D G A

Through the golden meadows..and past the whispering trees G A D Bm
It whirls and twirls in spirals..carried by the breeze. G A…….D

As the twilight paints the sky in hues.. of pink and gorgeous blue D G A
It whispers secrets in breathless sounds..know to just a few D G A

It dances with the fireflies..beneath the evening star G A D Bm
A symphony of nature..heard from near and far G A…….D

Through moonlit valleys..over hills so high D
dreams are carried to the midnight sky G A
A chariot ..invisible… not to be denied D G A

In waning moments.. fading night..it sings a lullaby G A D Bm
whispers ..of the breeze.. a gentle sigh G A…….D

Hey Feaker
Pretty. Just keep at it, doing what you're doing for as long as you can which hopefully is a lot more years. :D

Often, wish all of our focus here on commercial success (e.g. Film/TV placements), we forget that we once did it just for fun and personal satisfaction. You've never lost that joy and that's awesome. 8-)

One of my favorite verses from an old Melanie song called "Tuning My Guitar" is:

I'm thinking what I'm doing
I'm thinking what I've done
I'm thinking 'bout my mother
Who never thought I'd come
Quite this far from nowhere
To hear myself be sung
But I still haven't forgotten
I used to do it just for fun

Warmest,
:D Casey

Wow Casey that is beautiful. I bet it is in a full production somewhere? I now equate making music like the time I went to a house of ill repute. Selfish as it would seem "I did it just to please myself" Thanks for the chat

I've only ever seen it with her solo singing and playing guitar. The song starts around two minutes in here:

I love her live versions! I saw her in concert a few times in the early 70s. Yes, I'm that old. :D Her double "Live At Carnegie Hall" album is amazing (IMHO).

Did you know that ML was the engineer on some of her albums?
