Forward for Subtle Tension Instrumental

Post by benalder » Sat Sep 21, 2024 10:13 am

First submission after my summer break, and managed to get a forward for #S240912UB, Subtle Tension Instrumentals. Happy with how it turned out, super happy that it won a forward.

If you fancy giving it a listen, here it is:

Nice job Ben! And for a "library you want to be in"
Seemingly simple request, thought I nailed my submission, but it was returned. Hope you hear from them!

Good work! I can sense the growing tension right through the final section and the final low piano note is a nice way to end.
Best of luck for a response form the library :) .
Like it is, and 100% HI

Thanks Erik, sorry to hear yours didn't get through man. Very seemingly simple request, but definitely found it hard to ride that line between good dynamics and subtlety. I was constantly second-guessing elements right up to the submission. I really wasn't sure if I'd overcooked it or not, to be honest. Even as I was mastering I heard this riff (for want of a better musical phrase) in my head that would have been perfect for the strings in the stinger, I was so tempted to go back and write it in. Decided to leave it out, but still doubted it would get past the screener. The background descending piano line in the last 8 bars (?) or so felt almost a little too 'hey, look at me' to my ear, but I guess it was sufficiently low in the mix not to distract? Here's hoping it'll get picked up at some point!

Onto the next one...WSFR

Thanks for listening and the feedback, telefunkin. Balancing the tension and the subtlety was tricky, I found. Hearing things enough to create the vibe, but being more subtle than perhaps even than usual because they wanted subtle specifically? Honestly wasn't sure I'd get a forward for this one, a couple of elements felt like they were riding the line. Pleasantly surprised :D
