God Won't Waste Your Pain - Worship

Post by dtrainddog » Sun Oct 06, 2024 4:58 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if the hook is unique enough for Christian radio or if the song is any good. I wrote the lyrics and my friend Rob did the rest. We're looking for feedback on the lyrics, melody and production. Our goal is to get the song cut on a worship project and to have it sung in churches. Thanks so much for your time and feedback.

“God Won’t Waste Your Pain”
Writers - Darin Martin, Rob Alley

(v1)
You can try to hide it but I see hurt in your eyes
I feel the pain you have walking on this broken road
You don’t have to keep fighting back the tears inside
It’s okay to open up your heart to let the them flow

(Chorus)
God won’t waste your pain
When you give it all to Him
He’ll break every chain
When you let Him come in
There’s purpose in your story
He’ll use it for His glory
There’s healing in Jesus’ name
God won’t waste your pain

(v2)
The storms in this life will put your faith to the test
He sees the struggles you’re going through and trials you face
Lay your burdens down at His feet then He’ll do the rest
There’s nothing left to fear when you’re standing in His grace

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge) x2
You’ll never be too far
For Jesus to meet you where you are

(Repeat Chorus)

It's a really good song, appropriate for the genre. I don't think the production & recording is radio-ready but grain of salt there as I'm not a production guy.

My PERSONAL opinion is "God Will Ease Your Pain" is a much more relatable phrase/hook/title and should be used instead of "God Won't Waste Your Pain".

Good luck with it!

Nice voice/song. You might want to hold that word flow in the first verse before jumping into the chorus. Some power in flow as well. that's all, good luck

I like it a lot, Darin. My two cents: I would look for ways to lift the chorus musically: perhaps bring in a new instrument (maybe strings?), double the vocal, put some more reverb on it -- something (maybe several things) to make the chorus stand out more from the verses. Good luck with it!

I love this recommendation. Positive wording makes alot more sense in this genre. I love the arrangement!
Production wise, consider adding some rhythm guitar, maybe layer a synth pad underneath the keys. Also adding some group vocals to the chorus would give it that Contemporary Praise and Worship vibe!.
These gospel bands usually have 2-3 keyboardist and 2 rhythm guitarist.
